Special Report: Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Officially Announced

Today is the day Gundam fans are waiting for: the official announcement of a new series and the official title is finally revealed as Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphan). Check out the latest information that we got about this upcoming series.


Iron-Blooded Orphans takes place in Post Disaster Era 323, 300 years after a great war on Earth. With the planet Mars has been successfully Terraformed and colonized where humans can live, the people Mars wanted freedom from the Earth Government despite its technological advancements. Mikazuki Augus, a young orphaned boy working for the private contractor group CGS, which the group were entrusted the safety of the Martian Princess, Cuderia Aina Bernstein as her plans for her nation of Chryse to secede from Earth. However, they were attacked by the terrorist group Gyaralhorn in hopes to stop the Martian Independence. To make things worse, CGS's deal with the government has been cut off, and went rogue. Now, CGS's leader and Augus' childhood friend, Orga Itsuka and a few CGS soldiers stages a rebellion against the adults that had abandoned them.

The story centers around Mikazuki Augus and his childhood friend Orga Itsuka as they deal with trials and hardships surrounding their group, CGS as they rebel against the adults who were responsible for abandoning them as well they fight the rebellion group Gyaralhorn who will stop at nothing to prevent the impending Martian independence at any cost. Other characters will be appearing like Biscuit Griffon and Eugene Seven Stark will be the supporting characters in the series.

The highlight Gundam in the series is the Gundam Barbatos which Mikazuki stumbled upon is a product from the previous war. Though the mobile suit is incomplete, Gundam Barbatos has the ability to evolve during battles, and each time it defeats an enemy mobile suit, the Barbatos can take parts, arsenal and equipment and attaches itself to power-up. There will be other Gundam type mobile suit like the Barbatos which will appear within the series soon.

Other mass produced mobile suits will appear in the series such as the Grace mobile suit, other mobile suit designs will appear as the series progresses.


Bandai and Bandai Namco Games has announced that they will release a slew of merchandise in conjunction to the upcoming series such as trading card games, toys, gashapons, apparel and of course Gunpla.

And speaking of Gunpla, Bandai will release the 1/144 Gunpla kits of Gundam Barbatos and Grace that will be released in the High Grade (HG) line. It is also announced that the HG line will also release the Orphans Customize parts series that will feature optional weapons that will feature in the series that will have the same fashion from the previous line, Gundam Build Fighters.

Bandai will also release a Non-Grade 1/100 scale version of Gundam Barbatos and the kit will feature an internal frame similar to the Master Grade series. Tamashii Nations will also release the SD version of Gundam Barbatos in their NXEdge line. More kits and toys will be released soon as the series progresses so we just have to watch out for that.
