Movie News: Live Action Gundam Film Announced

In case you haven't heard or read the news, a live action adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam is happening and Sunrise Animation together with Legendary Pictures will be producing the film.


The news was announced at Anime Expo 2018 in Los Angeles, CA last Thursday where Sunrise President & CEO Yasuo Miyakawa confirms a Gundam live action is in the works. Also present at the panel are Legendary Pictures' Executive Vice-President of Production Cale Boyter and Bandai Namco Holdings President and Representative Director Mitsuaki Taguchi. Robert Napton, former Bandai Entertainment Director of Marketing and Legendary Comics' current Senior Vice President of Publishing is also present at the event.

Released also at the event, a teaser trailer image and video which is also uploaded at Gundam.info's official YouTube channel of the upcoming live action movie. Check out the teaser trailer below.



The RX-78-2 Gundam (in CG) appeared in Stephen Spielberg's film, READY PLAYER ONE also produced by Legendary which was shown last March. This is not the only Gundam that was produced as a live-action movie, in 2000, Sunrise released G-Saviour; co-produced with Polestar Entertainment and released as television movie which deemed bombed.
